Description

As part of the Second Life Upgrade, we will switch out your existing storage device for a 240/256GB SSD. A standard HDD will read and write at typically 80MB/s to 160MB/s, but an SSD reads and writes at between 200MB/s to 550MB/s. This means your laptop will read information approximately 4-5x faster and write information 2-3x faster, if upgrading from a HDD. The biggest speed difference will be in: Startup/shutdown, launching programs, multi tasking and buffering pictures and videos. Your old storage device will be removed and you have the option of keeping it, turning it into an external USB drive via an adapter, or having us recycle it.

With this package, we will also put in a freshly activated copy of Windows 10. A fresh install means all the Windows updates and drivers updates will be done and running properly. This is done over several hours on our bench testing your laptop for any issues that may occur, and testing common laptop functions. After years of use, operating systems get worn down by excessive cookies, outdated drivers/updates, programs, viruses or clutter from regular use. A new install means the least amount of clutter possible, giving you the best performance and most storage space. In addition to our testing, we install a few basic programs (Open office, anti-virus, Chrome) to help you get the most out of your laptop.

Some people require more storage space or want to prepare for the future and double their storage capacity by opting to go from a 240/256GB SSD to a 480/512GB SSD. For most people this isn't necessary but it does give you more freedom to store more photos/videos, download games, or copy virus-free information from your old storage device to your new one.

With a fresh Windows install, your old drive and all of it's information is removed from the system. There is however, an external storage device housing which can turn your storage device into an external drive that connects via USB. This lets you access all of your old information while keeping your system running smoothly.

You also have the option to upgrade your RAM which will boost the overall speed of your computers processing. For the majority of our customers we recommend 8GB RAM. For those who do light gaming, run demanding programs or just like speed, we recommend 16GB. On select DDR4 systems we can accommodate for 32GB of RAM on request.
